The annual National Bird Day, project of Born Free USA and Avian Welfare Coalition, is approaching on January 5th. It a special opportunity to help educate the public on the issues affecting our captive birds.
Now is a great time to start thinking how you'd like to participate. I know, it's a busy time of year. But fortunately, your contribution can be as small - or large - as you'd like it to be. The National Bird Day website has lots of ideas for partaking in the activities - from sending ecards and donating, to placing posters in your favorite stores and hosting educational displays . Every contribution makes a difference.
I am determined to become more involved this time around, and have already started making plans. Please join me in making this a fabulous National Bird Day. : )
