2010 Donations

With the help of our awesome customers, PJ Publications and Gifts donated nearly $2,000 to animal causes in 2010. This included monetary donations generated from our partnership with Born Free USA; monetary donations generated via MissionFish and Filanthropists; and merchandise donations to a variety of charities.

As a small company, this is a number we are proud of.

Some of the organizations that benefited (aside from Born Free) include World Parrot Trust, ASPCA, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, HSUS, Angel's Wish Inc (sanctuary), and a host of other organizations, including animal rescues and shelters.

We are committed to helping animals, through our business, and in our personal lives. May 2011 be an even better year for the animals.

Caribbean Soul Discontinued

We are very disappointed to hear the news that Goin' Coastal, the company that is known for its island-themed merchandise, is going out of business. They are the company that produced the Caribbean Soul line, which consists of tee-shirts, decals, mugs and other fun items.

We have been selling their line for years, and wish them the best.

If you love Caribbean Soul items, now is your time to buy. Visit our Bird Lover Decals and Gifts page to see what we still have. Here is a sample:

Happy National Bird Day!

January 5th is a day set aside to celebrate the life of birds. How ironic that it comes at about the same time we're hearing in the news, that thousands of blackbirds have dropped from the Arkansas sky. If birds are barometers of the environment, then perhaps some of us are not paying attention.

Born Free USA and Avian Welfare Coalition have set aside January 5th of each year as National Bird Day. Yes, it's a time to celebrate the life of birds. But National Bird Day is also about bringing attention to the issues that both wild and companion birds face, including threats of extinction.

Birds are creatures that have managed to survive and thrive for 100 million years. Yet now, within a relatively short span of time, about 12 percent of about 10,000 bird species, including 1/3 of 330 parrot species, face extinction. They are largely victims of human intervention, suffering from loss of habitat and the illegal wildlife trade. Even many captive-bred birds suffer from inadequate care. Avian rescues and sanctuaries around the country are filled to capacity with parrots and other exotic birds that people no longer know how to care for, or want.

When you visit the National Bird Day website, there are great ideas on how to celebrate. One very easy way you can make a difference is by sending a free, virtual postcard. Please help spread the word.
